ALWAYS WORK WITH ANIMALS AND CHILDREN

The famous saying ‘never work with animals or children’ wasn’t even considered by Belle Vale Shopping Centre, as they did just the opposite! Throughout 2016, the centre staff have been working hard to support their chosen charity, Zoë’s Place Baby Hospice, and Merseyside Dogs Home. The charities have enjoyed a successful 2016 at the Centre through a series of fundraising events.

Last year, Belle Vale Shopping Centre hosted a variety of exciting fundraising events with the aim of raising funds and awareness for their chosen charity, Zoë’s Place.  Shoppers were invited to take part in fun events throughout the year such as the Zoë’s Place Fun Day tombola, festive Christmas wishing well and much more with the aim of raising money for the Liverpool based Charity. On Friday 3rd February, the Centre team presented Zoë’s Place with a cheque for the amount raised in 2016 – a massive £4,485.51! In 2015, the amount raised for Zoë’s Place was an impressive £1,687.28 – the 2016 figure is more than double this amount!”

Zoë’s Place Baby Hospice provides palliative, respite and end-of-life care to babies and infants aged from birth to five years old suffering from life-limiting or life-threatening conditions. Zoë’s Place is Belle Vale Shopping Centre’s chosen charity and the centre has been supporting the charity for many years. Together, they work on events and promotions to fundraise for the charity and the team hope to raise more money this year than ever before.

Merseyside Dogs Home have also enjoyed a successful 2016 from promotions at Belle Vale Shopping Centre and raised £2024.26 from shopper’s donations alone. They also managed to re-home some of their long Merseyside Dog Homestay guests to some of the Centre’s shoppers, because of their awareness campaign at the Centre. This partnership started because the Centre had seen an increase in abandoned dogs in the area and the Centre needed some help to home the dogs. The charity admits and re-homes stray and unwanted dogs from the local area and in 2016 alone, they managed to re-home 600 dogs. They are a Merseyside based organisation that depends on local support and donations to keep functioning and the Centre will continue to support them through 2017.

Paul Wilson, Belle Vale Shopping Centre Manager, presented a cheque each to the Zoë’s Place team and Merseyside Dogs Home, in two special presentations at the Centre on Friday 3rd February. He commented: “I am very proud of our staff and Centre team who gave up some of their free time to arrange & support these fund-raising events. It is their hard work and determination that help make the fundraising events possible and we are all overwhelmed by the kind donations made by shoppers. The Shopping Centre will continue working with the charities and look forward to hosting more events in 2017 to support them further”.
