CHRISTMAS LIGHTS SWITCH ON
COMMUNITY CHRISTMAS AT BELLE VALE SHOPPING CENTRE
Shoppers can step into Christmas this November and December at Belle Vale Shopping Centre as a variety of free and fun family entertainment begins, starting with a Christmas Lights Switch-On event on Saturday 21st November.
Once again, Belle Vale Shopping Centre will work in partnership with Zoe’s Place to host the ‘Light a Life’ Christmas tree. Shoppers will be able to sponsor a light on the decorative tree and all proceeds will go to the charity. The Light a Life tree will be located in the centre of Belle Vale Shopping Centre from Saturday 21st November and the lights will be turned on at 3pm.
Throughout the day from 10am – 4pm, Father Christmas will be meeting and greeting shoppers who have come to the centre to pick up their Christmas essentials and festive must-haves. Our jolly character will be spreading seasonal cheer as well as posing for photographs and handing out chocolate treats from his santa sack. At 3pm the ‘Light a Life’ Christmas tree will be switched on by Father Christmas himself, whilst children from ‘Our Lady of Assumption Primary School’ will be singing some festive favourites. Also, shoppers can leave a Christmas wish on the centre’s beautiful ‘Wishing Wall’ for friends, family and the community to enjoy. Among all this excitement, the Centre’s mascot, Bella the Bee, will be making appearances too!
Locals are also encouraged to pay Belle Vale Shopping Centre a visit on Saturday 5th December for the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see walking Christmas trees. These twinkling, tinsel-topped Christmas trees have uprooted and will be roaming the mall and surprising shoppers each time they unexpectedly spring to life!

LETTERS TO FATHER CHRISTMAS
FATHER CHRISTMAS ARRIVAL
Saturday 21st November 10am – 4pm
Working in partnership with Zoë’s Place, Belle Vale Shopping Centre will host ‘The Light a Life tree’ again this year and will have a traditional light switch on with performances by a local school choir and appearances from Bella the Bee.
The Light a Life tree invites the community to sponsor a light on the tree in memory of a loved one for a donation of five pounds and the contributor’s name is printed on a commemorative banner. Lisa Mitchell from Gateacre School, kindly arranges for the children from all the local primary schools to make Christmas baubles which are then used to decorate the tree. Family & friends of the school children are invited in to the centre to see their child’s creation.
Father Christmas will be arriving at the Centre and meeting and greeting shoppers with a sack full of chocolates. Our authentic Father Christmas will have children mystified and will happily pose for photographs.
LIVE PERFORMANCE ART
In August and October this year, a talented caricaturist and portrait artist came to the centre to create wonderful drawings of shoppers, with 15% of proceeds going to Zoe’s Place. Due to popular demand our artist will be returning December. If you would like to have your portrait done in time for Christmas, just call in to the centre on 18th & 19th December.

From Saturday 7th November a ‘Wishing Wall’ will be installed on the mall where visitors can go to pin a Christmas wish.
This can be anything from a seasonal greeting to an actual present that particular visitor hopes to see under their tree this Christmas. Whilst there is no prize to giveaway, retailers will be using the opportunity to tell shoppers if they have that product in store, with the aim of making your Christmas shopping easier. Retailers will visit the wall, see what items have been ‘wished’ for and reply with more details. Belle Vale Shopping Centre has also invited pupils from Gateacre School to create some eye-catching Christmas messages to put on the wall, making the Wishing Wall a striking and festive feature on the mall.
Baubles the Belle Vale elf will be in the Centre on Saturday 7th from 10am – 4pm to unveil our Wishing Wall!
